Man, there are so many new aerobatics gliders coming out right now, it’s hard to keep up! Exciting times!
The ever-helpful Erik.R sent an exciting link to the Coquillaj, a cool new mini-VTPR glider developed by Alexis Maréchal of Aeromod. The plane is 1.26m (49″) in span and weighs around 360g AUW (12.7oz.) From the looks of the video on the site, it’s an awesome light-lift flyer and excellent slope aerobat!
Price will be 250€ according to what I’ve read in this thread on RCGroups and it should become available towards the end of the year. Cool stuff!

My Wasabi from FL Bird Works of Belgium has come in, and it looks fantastic! Check out more photos, including comparisons of the plane alongside the Voltij, Le Fish and Guppy, in this thread on RCGroups.

Erik R. gave the head’s up on a new experiment by Pierre Rondel called the Padawan. It’s a tiny EPP pitcheron for aerobatics, using an airfoil designed for the purpose by Thierry Platon. It’s a brilliant solution to the challenge of building a small, light and durable VTPR aircraft… using only two servos and minimal linkages will really keep the weight down.
A great video featuring giant scale aerobatics gliders flown off aerotow at the Lauterbach 2007 event. Very big and very graceful sailplanes flying some pretty impressive aerobatics with smoke!
