Ellwood Duet

Ellwood Duet from surfimp on Vimeo.

Fun single take, uncut video of Peter and I flying a bowl at Ellwood, filmed with my headcam. The wind was a lot better than in most of our videos, about 10-12mph and coming in nicely to this bowl.

We tried to keep the planes in really close, within 5-10ft of the lip, where the compression was working really nicely. It allowed us to get the planes “on step” and really rockin’.

I was flying my 16.5oz 1.5m Le Fish and Peter was flying his 24oz 2m Big Fish. Filmed with a camera mounted to my hat :-)

Perpetual Motion II featuring Swiss Peter

This video has some of the craziest stunts I’ve ever seen. These planes are so light, so maneuverable, it’s just incredible. I’ve certainly never seen a slope glider that can fly like this before. Enjoy – we may very well be seeing the start of something truly new :)

Cruising at Ellwood

Had a really fun day out at Ellwood Mesa with Swiss Peter and Michael Richter. The wind was pretty light, maybe 10mph max and averaging about 7-8mph, straight in. Very marginal conditions for most planes, but not for our ultralightweights!! We had a blast, flying formation, doing fin drags and touch-and-goes, and generally just having a great time. So nice to spend a day at the beach with good buddies :)

24oz Big Fish at Kanan

Swiss Peter has done it again! This time he’s built the 82″ Big Fish by Leading Edge Gliders to an almost unimaginable 24oz (635g) flying weight. It’s insane! Here’s video of him and Brett Jaffee flying it at sunset near Oak Park, California. Wind was approximately 6-8mph in the video.

A really fun afternoon session flying Swiss Peter’s quiver of superlightweight Le Fishes and Big Fish!

40oz Big Fish

A video of the incredible 40oz (1130g) 82″ Big Fish that my friend Swiss Peter built. He was able to achieve a completed weight 1/3 (20oz) lighter than the stock build… truly impressive!! I met up with him at the Ruins in some nice moderate 12-15mph conditions and captured this video of him flying the plane. Later I got to fly it, and I loved it!

82″ Big Fish

The above videos are of one of the first 82″ Big Fish built, built by Yvain in France – how appropriate :-) This plane is being offered by Leading Edge Gliders (not on the site yet, just email Jack and ask him).

82″ XL Fish slope glider from Cliff Hanger on Vimeo.

Another great video of the Big Fish, from our friend Cliff Hanger in the UK. This one has been given the Jenny Craig diet treatment and slimmed down significantly from stock, but isn’t that the great thing about EPP? You can have it your way!

I’ve got one of these kits in the queue and a friend is just completing one locally… can’t wait to see what it’s like, should be awesome :)
