Recently got word that the CBmodelisme Vulcain has been updated to a new “DS” version… here’s more info from the plane’s producer, Benoît Chauvet:
As an alternative to the original VULCAIN, the VULCAIN DS is presented as an aerobatic glider for pilots looking for a quadroflap setup combined with a new profile, the HQ/DS-1/9.
The choice of the profile and the major chord at the root allow very large differences in speed with acceleration, and inverted flight with very few corrections.
With or without the use of flaps, maintaining energy in flight is exemplary, allowing for great slope and flat-field aerobatics. Thanks to the quadroflaps, landings can be conducted at a nice slow speed using “crow” mixing.
The side area of the fuselage and its design around a symmetrical profile promote stability and good knife edge performance.

The family grew with the VULCAIN, an aerobatic glider of 2.50 meters wide for aerobatics in plain or sloping. This glider is designed for aerobatic flight in plain and slope, its asymmetrical profile enabling it to address these two disciplines.
