Thierry Platon's airfoil polars and coordinates now available on Planet-Soaring!

Thierry Platon (of TP42 / TP29 fame) has made his airfoils available for download and use on Pierre Rondel’s Planet-Soaring website.

  • TP Airfoils page on Planet-Soaring

Below is a short description of each airfoil that Thierry provided in a thread on RCGroups.com:

TP96 has been specially designed for “aerobatic HLG/DLG’s” . Different cambers are proposed according to the intended use “full aerobatics” or more “thermalling”

TP210 is a multi-usage airfoil for aerobatic gliders from 3m to 4.5m span with good thermalling performance and standard aerobatic capacity

TP202 is as good as RG15 for speed and thermal flight but better for aerobatics ans inverted flight. Notice that TP202 is better than SB96V in poor lift conditions

TP66/TP66S is equivalent to SB96V/SB96VS for thermalling , much better in term of energy retention and maximum speed, and just a bit lower for inverted aerobatics.

TP42/TP29 symmetrical aifoils. Non comment , just ask Steve ! [Ed. Note: I’m a fan!! – Steve ] With 5% thickness TP29 is a very good choice for DLG stab

TP28L/TP28S equivalent to TP42/TP29 but for larger gliders 3m to 4.5m span

TP28-4 near symmetrical (0.9% camber) designed for “voltige totale” in light conditions (in place of TP28L/TP28S)

TP73 state of the art aifoil dedicated to 60 inches and pylon racing. Really faster than MG06 and MH43 .Try it and you get it !

TP74 another outstanding 60inches airfoils. But my son has refused to share it. He aims to win the french pylon league this year….For the moment only polars are available

TP100plank designed for racing planks. Faster than PW51 with lower Cm variations. Should be very fast and stable…

TP50DS designed for performance in dynamic soaring (above 250km/h and much higher). If you try it keep me aware…

Thank you so much, Thierry! This is awesome!
